Filminitiative Würzburg e.V., which has been organizing the Wuerzburg International Film Festival since 1974, is delighted to have been nominated for the German Engagement Award 2025. The award is presented annually by the German Foundation for Engagement and Volunteering. It brings together 650 competitions that encourage voluntary engagement and honors special projects from all over Germany. It is the most prestigious award for civic engagement.
A jury of experts selects winners in various categories from among the nominees. In addition, an audience award is presented following a public online vote. The winners will present their projects to a prominent audience at the award ceremony on December 5, 2025, in Berlin. They can look forward to prize money of 10,000 euros.
We would like to thank the city of Wuerzburg for nominating the film initiative as the winner of the 2024 Culture Medal for the German Engagement Award. The nomination by the city of Wuerzburg is a great sign of appreciation.
About the German Engagement Award
The German Engagement Award was established in 2009 as a joint initiative of the Alliance for Non-Profit Organizations, sponsored by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women, and Youth, and implemented by the Association of German Foundations. Over the course of 15 years, the award has become the central award for civic engagement in Germany. As the “prize of prizes,” it not only honors individuals and projects, but also strengthens the culture of recognition.
