The nationwide SHORT FILM DAY is entering its 14th round. On December 21, 2025, the shortest day of the year, and in the week before, people in Germany are once again invited to organize their own events featuring short films of all kinds. Since 2012, SHORT FILM DAY has been celebrating the most unconventional of all film forms with its inexhaustible repertoire, delighting young and old alike. In 2025, SHORT FILM DAY will be held under the motto “NOW!” Because now is the time to take matters into our own hands and make a change. The motto calls on us to take action, to look and to get involved. It stands for the urgency to tell stories and create now. At the same time, NOW! invites us to consciously experience the moment in the here and now. To perceive the present with all our senses – in images, in sounds, in emotions.
In cooperation with the Central im Bürgerbräu, we are showing the short film program NOW MORE THAN EVER (JETZT ERST RECHT).
The program from the Hamburg Short Film Agency presents seven films in which people find themselves in ludicrous to life-threatening situations and recklessly fight for freedom, love, and friendship. Fifteen-year-old Magda tricks the Gestapo during World War II, four siblings defend themselves against the White Stare, and drunk girlfriends lend a hand to their roommate in a rather undignified situation. At a time when machines are becoming increasingly fantastic, this program counters with humanity, now more than ever! (Rated PG-16)
