Nicht hungrig in den Film gehen - der junge Masato (Takumi Saitoh) beherrscht als Koch in einer traditionellen japanischen Suppenküche ein beneidenswertes Handwerk. Seine besondere Spezialität ist die Ramen-Nudel-Suppe. Sein Vater stirbt unerwartet, so findet er einen Koffer, der voller Erinnerungsstücke ist und Masato erfährt die Hintergründe der Liebesgeschichte seiner Eltern. Kurzerhand beschließt er, sich auf den Weg nach Singapur zu machen, ins Heimatland seiner Mutter, die starb, als Masato zehn Jahre alt war. Dort trifft er auf Miki (Seiko Matsuda), die einen Food-Blog betriebt und Masato dabei hilft, Verwandte zu finden. Bis es soweit ist, probiert sich Masato durch die kulinarischen Traditionen Singapurs, Japans und Chinas und lernt dabei nicht nur die Kunst des Kochens vollkommen neu kennen, sondern auch die Kunst des Beisammenseins. Ein kulinarischer Leckerbissen.

Masato is a young ramen chef in the city of Takasaki. After the death of his emotionally distant father, he chances upon a suitcase of memorabilia and a notebook – filled with musings and old photos – left behind by his Singaporean mother who died when he was ten years old. Acting on a hunch, he takes off for Singapore, hoping to piece together the story of his and his parents' life. He meets Miki, a food blogger and single mother. She helps him track down his uncle, who runs a soup stall. Masato discovers that his grandmother is still alive, and that she holds the key to the tender yet turbulent love story of his parents. Masato and his grandmother try to heal each other’s broken souls, and find salvation in the kitchen where the meals they cook become more than the sum of their ingredients.
